Soon after cyclist James Huang was featured in The Post — for muscling a 45-pound Citi Bike up Bear Mountain — a fellow wheelman offered the college student a free upgrade.

Marc Meyers, 49 — a filmmaker known for “My Friend Dahmer” — got in touch with Huang to gift him the Specialized Rockhopper that Meyers had been riding since 1993.

Huang, 19, had told The Post he took the Citi Bike on his trek because he’s training for a triathlon, while saving for a road bike.

Rather than list his old ride online “for a couple hundred dollars,” Meyers said, “when I read the story I thought, ‘Oh, this guy could use it.’”

Meyers, who grew up near Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y., said, “I knew the route he’d taken on the Citi Bike. And when I read the article, I was like, ‘No way did someone ride a Citi Bike on that route. He needs another bike.’”

Meyers told The Post that he put “many thousands of miles” on the bike over nearly three decades, including in New York City, Long Island, the Catskills, and even England when he lived across the pond.

“You know, the bike’s older than him,” Meyers said. “But it’s still in really good condition. I always took really good care of it and got it tuned up. It has new tires on it. He could get another 20 years out of it.”

Huang said he has “exciting plans” for his new ride, including a no-car “bikecation” to upstate Kingston with his girlfriend. “Since there’s no overage fees, I can get out a little bit,” he said.

A University of Southern California student, he said he may well bring the bike out west.

Huang added he wants to thank Meyers “for his wonderful gift.”

Huang traveled to Park Slope for the handoff, which Meyers’ wife and daughter came out to observe. “I took a Citi Bike down and I rode the bike back up,” Huang said.

“I filmed him cycling away with it. I was like, ‘There goes my bike!” the writer-director said.
