Elton Goo was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer in 2016. In March, he was stranded in Peru with a dwindling supply of his medication when they closed their borders to fight COVID-19. On Monday, November 9th, he’s cancer-free.
“I wrote letters, texts to certain people back home that I needed to notify that I may not make it,” said Goo, speaking of his time in Peru in March.
Over the last four years, he’s been on a mission to surf the world and live each day as if it were his last. The United States Government eventually got Elton Goo in a string of flights, getting him back home to Honolulu.
“I ended up having to take the medication every other day and I still ran out and my health was fading when it ran out,” Goo told KITV4.
Over the weekend, Goo received news that he didn’t believe at first. He is miraculously cancer-free.
“[A doctor said] ‘Elton I don’t know who you Hawaiians pray to but I suggest you do it right now because this is the best news you can get.'”
Goo says the credit for his recovery goes to God and a medicinal marijuana concentrate known as “Rick Simpson Oil.”
“I’ve been stoned pretty much for two months straight. I’m just telling you the truth, it wasn’t very easy people were laughing at me I was just falling in the water it was horrible it was difficult the last two months,” said Goo.
Goo said his now being cancer-free will not thwart his mission to travel and surf the world.
“I have found my purpose in life. I teach people how to trade stocks ,I go surf and I travel so when COVID’s over that’s what I’m doing,” he explained.
Goo writes a blog called “Elton’s Unorthodox Blessings,” and that’s exactly what this pandemic’s proven to be for him. Eight months after all hope seemed lost, a new life has been found.
“My oldest [child] they’re expecting their first child, my wife and I’s first grandchild, my youngest daughter got engaged. It’s all good,” said Goo, through tears of joy.
