It’s a hot summer the Roman one. Jole is home. Like every night. Too long now.
News flowing carelessly on the news. Attacks, children abused in a kindergarten… Jole wonders why so much evil…
Does TV keep her company…
One more lonely evening to spend with Michele.
Yes, because Michele, 94, has been her man for almost seventy.
She, who has 89 of spring, would have memories to tell!
To whom then? It’s been a long time since no one comes to say hi…
Life isn’t always easy.
Especially when the city is empty and the neighbors are away on holiday.
Sometimes loneliness melts in tears.
Sometimes it’s like a summer storm. It comes suddenly and overwhelms you.
Jole and Michele love each other. But when loneliness is a burden on the heart, it can happen that they lose hope.
It can happen, like this time, that they scream so loudly their despair that, in the end, someone calls the State Police.
There is no crime. Jole and Michele are not victims of scams as often happens to elderly people and no thief has entered the house. There is no one to save.
This time, for the Flying Boys there’s a more difficult task to do.
There are two lonely souls to reassure.
Once inside the apartment, everything tells about that long life together.
But he also talks about the desolation that officers are there for.
A measly raspo, from which three grapes of grapes, on the kitchen table, hangs on the kitchen table, tells of a fasting that has lasted for too long.
Cops are pervaded by tenderness.
They understand that this time is different.
There are no forms to fill out. Codes are not needed tonight.
You need to be men.
To be real.
And while they wait for the ambulance to check that the spouses are doing well, they understand that only a little human warmth can restore peace to Jole and Michele.
They ask for permission to access the pantry.
They improvise a little dinner. A plate of pasta with butter and cheese. Nothing special. But with a precious ingredient: there is all their humanity inside.
Andrea at the stove and Alessandro, Ernesto and Mirko entertaining the two new friends.
Family dinner tonight!
This is also #alwaysbeing and is found every time someone asks for help.
